Acupuncture and Pain Relief

In my later years of medical school, I thought pain management was beyond me. Even though acupuncture was best known for its effective pain relief. I thought the Western medical world was behind as usual. We were amazed to learn about all the other diseases we can treat with acupuncture. Such as neurological problems, and immune system dysfunction. Anxiety and depression and I thought, Anyone, can treat pain.

When I wrote about Chinese medicine on Pulse, I thought. "It would be more beneficial. For acupuncture's image to focus on something like psychology.

So talking about pain management was not on my list.

Western vs. eastern pain relief

But I couldn't help but see that Western medicine doesn't have a great solution for pain relief. They always have the side effects of some drugs and the addictive. Potential of opiates (their strongest painkillers).

My well-read wife subscribes to a magazine called The Pain Practitioner. After reading it for a few months, I realized that they never mentioned acupuncture. This is crazy, I thought. After all, it competes with drug effectiveness and does not cause side effects. Besides, it is better at eliminating neurogenic pain and prevents temporary pain. From going through the process of "burying in the brain" that leads to chronic pain syndromes.

When you think of acupuncture, the first thing that should come to mind is “Great for pain management”.

Higher standards for pain relief with acupuncture

I have found that many acupuncturists do not enjoy treating pain. it may be because they haven't learned a style of acupuncture that treats pain. In October 2002, I began mentoring Robert Chu, who learned fast and effectively. Pain-relieving acupuncture system from a student of the famous Taiwanese acupuncturist, Master Tong.

Dr. Chu taught me several acupuncture systems. That is not currently taught in acupuncture schools. Its goal is to some extent immediate pain relief and immediate relaxation. Or a sense of well-being in other ailments.

That's a high standard - we can't always achieve complete pain relief with one treatment. In some situations, it may take ten treatments to create a permanent dent. But I like big goals. I'm more likely to make progress that way.

Location and cause of pain

At the clinic, we first find out where your pain is. If you have been in an accident or have nerve problems. We will perform a physical examination to reveal the nature of the problem. For example, your pain may cause by a problem with your spine. Messages from your brain, one of your internal. Organs, or because you've bruised a muscle, tendon, or ligament.

Sometimes we can't find an obvious cause, even with X-rays, MRIs, and lab tests. So we have to assume that the cause is neurogenic - from the brain, nervous system, or even the psyche. Pain can be an expression of emotion. There is nothing wrong or less valid about such pain.

Chinese medicine is very suitable for treatment. And people with psychological pain may find them. Western doctors are less sympathetic because they always have to watch out for addicts. Acupuncture can treat addiction.

Smart Disc Problems

Problems with the vertebral disc are very painful. They haunt you with excruciating and shooting pain. A vertebral is a plate or disk of cartilage and fiber that contains the nucleus pulpous, a mass of white elastic fiber at its center located between the vertebrae or bones of the spine. Disc problems tend to get worse with age. Aggravation or any injury or any stress can cause a painful disorder known as a slipped disc, herniated disc, pinched nerve, or ruptured disc. In a herniated disc, when the disc ruptures or slips, the white elastic fibers protrude through the cartilage and put pressure on the adjacent nerve root, generating excruciating pain in the affected area. A herniated disc can sometimes be completely painless, but a degenerative disc can cause intense pain. Degenerative means that the condition is likely to get worse over time. Most patients with a degenerative disc will periodically experience continuous tolerable pain followed by increasing intensity of pain that will ...
