The Best Experience of Pain Ever

I have to share my recent pain experience - because it was SO DIFFERENT than what I've experienced in the past. I felt a little fear rise in my chest because this particular enhancement had never happened before. I took a few deep breaths and managed to stand up, but my back was still tight, twisted, and "off". I rated the pain a 7 out of 10. In the past, I would have been afraid. Oh my god! Something is WRONG!! How long will it take? How long will I be out of my activities? Am I going to get BLOCKED FOREVER like this?!! And on and on... In the past, adjustments like this would get worse, the pain would spread throughout my body and I could be miserable and in pain for months. Even though it was a little shocking and scary and it doesn't feel good, I know it's going to be okay. My fear was ...

The Problem With Painkillers

For some, reaching for the tablets every morning is as much a habit as turning off the alarm clock or banging on the kettle. This becomes the only way chronic pain sufferers believe they can function. But, the dose that patients take over the years tends to increase. And quite often, the more painkillers people take, the more they have to take. Almost like an addiction, people who take painkillers may even wake up during the night to take them! But, people do not always realize that the very drugs that promise to relieve pain often prolong it. It is estimated that about 500,000 women and 100,000 men suffer from daily headaches due to the overuse of painkillers. These people are not overdosing on their medication; they take the pills for a long time. The more the painkiller is taken, the more resistant the body becomes, so the sufferer reaches for a stronger type of medication. When the medication wears off, they may develop withdrawal reactions (known as "rebound" headaches) ...

Do You Have Soul Stress

In my thirty years in practice, I have treated people from all walks of life to provide them with a list of symptoms. While most conditions have many causes, the single most common cause I've seen is stress.  The pervasive effects of stress on our minds, bodies, and spirits are nothing new. At the time, the idea that there was a link between stress and physical illness was groundbreaking and controversial. From the early days of my career, I saw evidence of this connection.  Since then, the stress has increased. But why? Back in the 1980s, people were under financial stress as they are now. Humans have suffered from relationship stress since the beginning of time. But, after 9/11, I noticed a dramatic increase in stress that seemed to intensify and deepen over time. And as I became a better practitioner, I also began to attract more difficult cases, that is, those with more complex symptoms and disorders. I learned how to make emotional adjustments to counter the underlying tr...
